Mr. & Mrs Herbert Hoover,

Miami Beach, Florida.

Dear Friends:-

Hurrah! For our Quaker President. This is the first time the Quakers have had this privilege and its one we should all be proud of and feel honored. I think we should know how we feel about it.

I was talking to my Father a short time ago and I told him I that if any one could get "world peace" it would be Hoover, and I still think it.

Do you believe in giving to charity? Probably you get dozens of letters asking for help. This is our situation we have bought us a little place and are trying to pay for it but are having a hard time. My husband is a clerk in a dry goods store and of course gets very small wages. My parents are old and we have to help them, Mother is 79 years old and has been sick since before Christmas. Father is 84 years old. He is one of the old Hocketts. You probably have heard of the Hocketts in the Friends church.

My husband's Mother has been paralized for over a year, she can't talk only a few words and can't hardly walk any. So you see we are having a hard time. I that probably you could slip us enough to pay for our place and never miss it. Three thousand would clear us on the place.

My husband doesn't know I'm writing this, he is too proud to ask for help or let me if he knew it but I wish I could do something to help.

We have a small Friends church and College here at Central City. I expect you have gone thru here lots of times.

I remain a loyal supporter.
