[On the top of the letter is a hand-drawn color picture of three children, each carrying a Belgian flag. In the front of the line is one child with a large American flag.]
I have decided to write my letter in English, it is difficult for me, because it is only the second year that I learn that language.
But I’ll do my best.
I am very happy to correspond whith [sic] you, because your people were so good for the unfortunate Belgians. I don’t know with whom I am talking, but I like you like a benefactress.
I am certain that you’ve made warm clothes for the poor children.
The relief Committee formed by your people preserves us of hunger.
How many children were happy because of the Christmas presents that you sent to them.
For that the heart of all the Belgians is full of the most grateful sentiments for noble America.
